Adani Power Optimistic About Recovering Outstanding Dues from Bangladesh

India’s Adani Power is hopeful about recovering the remaining $900 million in outstanding payments from Bangladesh related to a power-supply agreement signed in 2017. Due to increased import costs stemming from the Russia-Ukraine conflict and political upheaval in Bangladesh in August 2024, the country had difficulty meeting its financial obligations, prompting Adani to halve its power supply. However, the full supply has since resumed as Bangladesh has begun making consistent monthly payments. Adani’s CFO, Dilip Jha, noted during an earnings call that Bangladesh has already paid nearly $1.2 billion out of the approximately $2 billion billed. Jha expressed confidence that ongoing monthly payments would not only cover current bills but also help clear the remaining dues.
